We’re incredibly excited to share the news that you can catch the first-ever screening of the short documentary Return Chute: The survival of a small town video store when the film premieres at Screenwave International Film Festival. Return Chute is not in competition at the festival but will screen before the feature, Neptune Frost, on Sunday 23 April, at 6:30pm at Bellingen Memorial Hall.
Tickets from www.swiff.com.au
The film is the story of Rod O’Hara, his store, Bellingen Video Connection, and the loyal customers keeping the store open in this era of global streaming services. Despite Rod’s personal setbacks and against all odds, the quirky store in a small town on Gumbaynggirr Country on the NSW Mid North Coast is one of the last remaining video stores in Australia and the world! The film explores what makes Rod, the store, the amazing local and loyal customers, and the town of Bellingen unique.
Return Chute is directed and produced by Simone Atallah, who was joined by the exceptionally talented cinematographer and editor Mick Jones.
